Pregelatinized corn starch is a preliminarily modified starch. It is made by thermohydrolyzing corn starch so as to solute in cold water directly. Comparing to raw starch, it avoids the trouble to heating at sight, and quality is more stable and better. Since it has similar properties comparing to high grade thickener such as xanthan gum, CMC or CMS, at same time much cheaper price, today drilling companies are more and more often applying this material so as to save cost.
