Application : Acetonitrile, also known as methyl cyanide, is a colorless liquid that is very volatile and has a special odor similar to ether. It has excellent solvent properties and can dissolve many kinds of organic, inorganic and gaseous substances. A certain toxicity, with water and alcohol immiscible. Acetonitrile can occur in a typical nitrile reaction and is used to prepare many typical nitrogen compounds. It is an important organic intermediate. Acetonitrile can be used to synthesize vitamins A, cortisone, solvents for melamine and its intermediates, as well as active medium solvents for vitamin B1 and amino acids. Can replace chlorinated solvents. It is also used as a solvent for vinyl coatings, as an extractant for fatty acids, as an alcohol denaturant, as a butadiene extractant, and as an acrylonitrile synthetic fiber. There are many uses in textile dyeing, lighting, perfumery and photographic materials.
