Sodium methylsilicate is an organic compound with the molecular formula CH5SiO3Na. It is a colorless liquid with a relative density of 1.23~1.26. It is a new type of rigid building waterproof material with good permeability and crystallinity.
The silanol group in its molecular structure reacts with the silanol group in the silicate material by dehydration and crosslinking, so as to realize the ''reverse capillary effect'' to form an excellent hydrophobic layer, and at the same time, it has the functions of micro-swelling and increasing compactness.
It is used as a waterproofing agent for concrete, limestone, gypsum products, red brick, sandstone, stucco, plaster, new cellar bricks and other materials. It can also be used as an additive for mortar.
