Application
The properties of many polymers such as polyester or nylon PA depend heavily on the crystallinity and the size of the spherical crystal. High crystallinity combined with spheroidal crystals generally improves mechanical properties and increases wear resistance of polymers. The crystallization of polymers depends not only on their chemical and physical properties, but also especially on the processing conditions. The rapid cooling of the polymer melt results in the formation of small spherical crystals, but the crystallinity is still very low because the polymer is actually frozen in an amorphous state. On the other hand, although the slow cooling of the polymer leads to high crystallinity, the spherical crystal will grow to a large size and lose the good performance of the material.
