Product Description

DTT (Dithiothreitol) is a small molecule organic reducing agent, the chemical formula is C4H10O2S2. The reduced state is a linear molecule, which is oxidized to a six membered ring structure containing two sulfur bonds. The name of the two sulfur dioxide is derived from stachyose (a four carbon monosaccharide). The isomer of DTT is two DTE, that is, the C3- isomer of DTT.

DL-1,4-dithiothreitol is commonly used as a reducing agent, also called two dithiothreitol (DTT), with strong reducibility, the reduction is largely due to the oxidation state of six membered ring (containing two sulfur bond Conformation Stability). The reduction force is affected by the pH value, and can be reduced only when the pH value is greater than 7. This is because only the thiol anion (-S -), which takes off the proton, is reactive, while the thiol (-SH) does not; and the thiol group pKa is generally ~ 8.3.
